About this webinar
Join the Lake District National Park Authority as they share the story of the Keswick to Threlkeld Railway Trail, a 5km stretch of former railway line that has been transformed into an accessible route for walkers, wheelers and cyclists of all abilities.
Following devastating damage from Storm Desmond in 2015, the previous route was closed for five years. The team discuss how they worked with partners and communities to not only restore access but to create something better, building in greater accessibility through improved surfacing and new tunnel and bridge infrastructure.
Since reopening in December 2020, the trail has proved to be a huge success. The team share the benefits and challenges of managing such a popular route, and the lessons learned along the way.
